The economy is spiraling, money is tight…why advertise with us now?
“We are seeing on a weekly basis dealerships closing throughout the state” said Peter Welch,
president of the California New Car Dealers Association. About 100 dealer members of the
association have not renewed their memberships this year. The association has confirmed
that 70 of those are no longer in business. At the end of 2007, the association had about 1,300
members. Now it has about 1,200 Welch said.
Nationwide the U.S. Auto industry faces a nearly unprecedented combination of negative
economic factors. New car and truck sales are at their lowest point in 15 years.
If your not feeling secure about your job, or about meeting your mortgage or rent payment, or
about paying your children’s tuition, your not going to add a new $400 -$700 car payment,
especially if you can keep your existing car on the road.
We believe that new car sales will be depressed through 2010 or longer, which means existing
cars and trucks will be on the road much longer. Where are these vehicles going to go for
maintenance and repair? Especially if they were customers of the new car dealership service
department? They will be looking for you and your repair shop! And the chances of the new car
dealerships re-opening when the economy comes around are slim. So there should be, over
the next few years, many new customers looking for the best auto repair shops available to
have their cars and trucks serviced and repaired.
What are you doing to let these customers know about your shop and services? How will they
find you? Do you think that customers that have been taking their vehicles to the new car
dealer for service and repair are going to look for you in the coupon saver paper? Probably
not. Will they use the phone book? Well we know from the reports by the Kelsey Group that
the percentage of people using the phone book for local business searches has been
declining every year, so they probably won’t be looking there either.
Most are using the Internet, home PC’s, work PC’s, laptops, smart phones, etc, the world is on
the web. Please give us an opportunity to help position you and your business to take
advantage of this once in a lifetime customer shift, for about what you spend on a cup of Java
Bucks coffee every morning, we can get you and the customers who are looking for you
together.
